LOTS OF GOOD INFO

BORDER INFORMATION
SWEDEN HAS NOW DROPPED ALL REMAINING (DOMESTIC) COVID RESTRICTIONS! GET READY TO PARTY!
UPDATED 23 FEBRUARY:
Sweden does not require a visa or advance registration for visitors from the USA, Canada, or New Zealand.
The ban on Americans entering Sweden directly from the USA was removed on November 5th. You can now fly directly from the US to Sweden without having to transfer in a third country. Proof of vaccination at least 14 days in advance is required to enter Sweden (new rule from 21 Jan). The white CDC card counts as acceptable proof of vaccination. A negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of travel may also count. Don't take our word for it though...please double check with your airline to make sure you meet the entry requirements for Sweden and any countries you will be transiting through.
Once you get to Sweden: Domestic COVID related restrictions were dropped on February 8th. More info here: https://www.krisinformation.se/en/news/2022/februari/nyrestrictions-removed-on-9-february We will not be requiring masks at our wedding, but you are of course welcome to wear one if you like.
For the return journey, effective December 6, 2021, all travelers arriving into the U.S. must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 1 day of initial flight departure, or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days. Testing is available in Boden and Luleå and we can help you find a testing center and book at time - let us know. There is also testing available at Arlanda (Stockholm) Airport. https://www.swedavia.com/arlanda/service/testcenter-for-pcr--och-antigentester The easiest option for you may be to get a self-test with a 'telehealth provider'. See the FAQ section under Test and Documentation Requirements "Does a self-test meet the conditions of the order". https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html This will be a test that you bring with you from the US.
Alternatively, you can move to Boden, which will be great for us!
Please feel free to email us at dirkgraham@gmail.com or martinaruuth@gmail.com if you have questions and we'll be happy to help. We sure hope to see you in Boden!

Very fancy tree houses in the forest that you sleep in! Justin Bieber stayed here! 35 minute drive from Boden.
Also fancy and on (top of) our big (frozen) river Luleälven. Super cool looking (see picture above). Also a spa if you're looking for a daytime activity. 40 minute drive from Boden.
The local hostel. Justin Bieber did not stay here. 10 minute walk from Hotell Bodensia.
It's 35 minutes away by car or train and offers many more civilized choices of accommodation.
To our friends in Boden: If you'd like some houseguests let us know!
TRAVEL
The easiest way to get to Boden is to fly to Luleå, LLA, from Stockholm ARN, it takes about 1h 20 minutes. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from Boden. Let us know when you arrive and we will try to come pick you up, or arrange for someone to pick you up. It might be a bit hectic the days before the wedding! If you're planing on renting a car that can be done at the airport swedavia.com/lulea/rental-car, and there are buses going to Luleå busstation where you can get on the buses to Boden. SAS and Norwegian operate several flights a day to Luleå.
There's also the night train from Stockholm (to Boden C) if you're not in a hurry. It takes about 12 hours, and you can get on it either 5 pm or 10.30 pm. There are different seating options, we definitely recommend that you get a bed, unless you're comfortable sleeping sitting up. Book your train tickets at sj.se/en/home.html.
Driving from Stockholm takes about 10 hours.
THINGS TO DO
Amazing frozen rapids! See picture above. See website for better picture. There is a nice restaurant and hotel if you're looking for a nice side trip. One hour drive from Boden.
Take a guided tour!
Hit the spa!
A whole damn hotel/bar/chapel they build from ice and snow every winter. It's truly an experience to just take a tour and look at all the ice sculptures in the different rooms and grab a drink in the ice bar. Expensive to stay though - Kiruna is nearby and has more affordable ackommodations. This is an overnight adventure as it is a 4 hour drive from Boden.
Head out here for a polar adventure! You can stay at the mountain station for the real experience. An hour and a half past the ice hotel, on the left. As long as you're out there you might as well ski the tundra at Riksgränsen.
Downhill skiing much closer than Riksgränsen at only 30 minutes from Boden.
A nicer downhill ski resort 2 hours from Boden.
Cross country skiing
Anywhere really. A good trail starts at Fårhagsvägen 16.
MUSH! One hour from Boden.
Snowmobiling
More to come here. Vroom vroom.
Beagle Petting
Find our beagle Barley on the couch at Fårhagsvägen 16, right in Boden! He likes treats too.
Slightly more exotic then petting Barley. 30 minutes away near Luleå.
Ask ahead of time, so we can turn 'em on.
He's 3 hours away in Rovaniemi, Finland. Just a short drive really.
